I have read Melissa Foster books before but have never struggled to finish one of her books so much. So much unnecessary conflict exploration, after the H was told her secret, argh! A lot of gratuitous sex. I NEVER quit books with any redeeming qualities, but I was pretty close w this one! It had an ok premise and parts that kept my interest , but chapters on end of boring and repetitive conflict 'exploration'.Product details

This book is the literary equivalent of eating cotton candy for a week --all fluff and sugar until you want to gag. The most realistic line in the book was when Lizzie's father thought her boyfriend's name was odd. The story is filled with people who are the best at everything including a world famous model, best selling author, and a heroine with half a million followers for her webcasts. If you aren't fantastic looking, incredibly generous and unbelievably talented you need to get out of town.
"Blue wasn’t just more handsome than any man alive, but he was also a gentleman and probably the world’s best kisser." Holy hyperbole, Batman!
The conflict about a woman called the Naked Baker, who actually shows less skin than a beach bunny, makes a mountain out of a mole hill. Having her 'sacrificing' herself to put her sister through university grew old fast as did the donating of flowers around town and racing to help the homeless to show that the character was a Cape Cod Mother Theresa was over the top. Apparently firefighters love to get flowers that are just about to expire.
The book could easily have been two hundred pages less if all the gnashing of teeth and references to the heroine's complicated life were omitted.
Lizzie Barber has had to work for everything she has gotten. She paid her own way through college, managed to buy her own flourishing flower shop in Provincetown, and is now paying for her younger sister’s college. How did she do all that? She created a secret web video of the night Naked Baker. Her flowers not sold are donated to unattended cemetery graves and her baked goods are donated to the homeless and firemen. Then she meets Blue Ryder, a hunky sexy carpenter, at a mutual friend’s wedding. Blue is determined to win her over since she has seized his heart, she is extremely attracted to Blue, but she still has her sister’s college to pay for so she must keep hiding her secret identity. Her determination has put her social life on hold.
Over one year, Blue has worked on remodeling her kitchen. Lizzie continues to turn Blue down when he asks her out even with the risk of losing him in the process. One night she gives in which changes everything because she is not sure she can stop at one date. Now their focus is on making their relationship work until Lizzie’s secret is revealed. How strong is their love and trust? Blue is jealous and Lizzie’s dad disowns her.
This story is about love, trust, and family values. Very good book though many hot sex scenes.

Lizzie is a grown woman. Necessity might have compelled her to start her Naked Baker webcast but I saw no reason for her to be ashamed.
Lizzie did what she had to in order to survive financially. Her webcast didn't hurt anybody. While I understood why she was reluctant to reveal that side of herself to Blue, she had no reason to be ashamed.
A lot of readers found fault with Lizzie on that issue, but I didn't. I believe if the naked baker was Blue, the story line would have been met approval. But woman are harshly criticized (in real life and in fiction).
While I enjoyed the love story between Lizzie and Blue, I couldn't deny I was mad at Blue for the reaction he had after discovering about the webcast.
Regarding the narration I had a hard time connecting with the characters because the narrator's tone was flat. I couldn't tell if the characters were exited, happy, sad etc.
This book is a whirlwind of heart-stopping emotion. In Melissa's true fashion, she delivered a story that's full of burning intensity. Blue is the best kind of a hunky, sexy, alpha hero. He's everything you could want and more in a BBF!
I truly enjoyed Blue and Lizzie's story. Such an excellent addition to the Love in Bloom series. They're journey was emotional, with smoking chemistry, filled with love, family, friendship and sexy naked baking. I loved the last baking scene in the book...it was so HOT!
"Seized by Love" is #38 of the Love in Bloom series and #1 of The Ryders. Lizzie Barber spends her days as proprietor of a flower shop and generally being a good neighbor in the community. Blue Ryder has spent most of the past year renovating Lizzie's kitchen and trying unsuccessfully to get her to go out with him. Lizzie hasn't tumbled to Blue's invites because she's afraid of him or anyone else finding out about her online secret life as The Naked Baker. Her twice weekly webcasts are paying for her sister's college tuition so Maddy doesn't wind up after graduation with a boatload of loans. Blue persists in his invitations until Lizzie finally agrees to go out, but just as friends. But we all know that sometimes friends can be lovers too and things heat up between Blue and Lizzie. Will Lizzie's secret be revealed? Can Blue deal with it? "Seized by Love" is a heartwarming romance with a touch of comedy and a dash of erotica. Not always an easy combination but Melissa Foster carried it off nicely indeed. The characters are fully faceted with believable back stories and insights into their families that goes a long way into what makes Blue and Lizzie who they are. The narrative flows nicely and, except for necessary interruptions, kept me reading straight through to the end. A fun read!
