What a busy year! I am a full time caregiver and Mom plus I homeschool my son! I have been tested in every shape and form these past months though I am stronger then ever! My "fun-ography :) " and art are my blood! Without my foundations of my imagination and creativity plus my incredible family I would not be ME! Many blessings to all the people in my life and to those I still will be so lucky to meet!

There is quite a personal story about this lovely angel statue whom I have called "Grace". I so happened to come across her last year in a cemetery of all places. I love the grounds there for the flowers, the historical church and the solitude. I had lost something and without going into my personal drama, I found refuge in this beautiful statue. She does not mark any graves or hold any names on her. I feel at peace in her presence, a calming. My reminder that we are never alone.

The adventure of a over friendly squirrel......
The photo is shaky due to the fact that this squirrel in Beacon Hill Park just loves to have his (or her) photo taken!
My children were quite shocked when I bent down and said "come here" to the squirrel and sure enough, he did!
My son was not sure what to do except remind me that this little squirrel could be rabid and was drooling at the fact that he might be able to take a bite out of me.
With the abundance of tourists in the area and locals alike feeding our little friends, I see why they don't mind coming out for a photo or two just in case in return they leave with a treat.
We walked away with our new friend following close behind......

The Lost Sock

Have you ever wondered where those missing socks end up?
Well......I was in Cowichan Bay recently with my children and we just happen to come across this lonely forgotten sock........
My children had many questions about this sock and how it ended up being there on the fence, all alone..........who put it there, was it to mark something, did someone lose it? My son Kyle thought it might be Raymond's sock for Raymond has socks here, there and everywhere.
My son thought that maybe we should send it in to the Lost & Found at the local newspaper. Someone could be missing this special fuzzy worn out sock!
You just never know.....the sock may have some history, walked with someone in their shoes, kept their feet warm and dry and knew very personal information......there is alot of emotion for this sock.
We left the sock on the fence. Maybe it is a symbol that all is not lost for hanging on the fence is definitely a way to get noticed!

A New Year - much possibilities.........I am waiting patiently for some dry weather to take my camera on an outing.....the blood is rushing through my veins and my adrenaline is back (lots of chocolate - lol) - I welcome 2010 with open arms. This is the year for my new start - I feel like I am wearing brand new Chuck Taylor's....(actually I need a new pair - maybe it is a sign)......
With paint brush in hand, I will paint away the rain.....
The sun will have a time to shine again and I will be ready!

This October in Duncan, B.C., our community came together.......
The Walk Of Nations started last year in honour of the North American Indigenous Games that were held in the Cowichan Valley and to show respect and friendship to all!

New Year....let us dream, hope and wish. WE all look for it, the new, the change that comes with the hanging of the calendar that we all receive over the holidays or if we are lucky, a freebie from the local pharmacy or car dealership. We all get to pass go (God bless the ones we lost on the way) and if we were so lucky we all would get the $200 to start the year off with some expensive indulgence. The year ahead brings so many experiences in every aspect..... I like the smell of new leather (sorry ), my new agenda, the perfect paper it holds within, without creases, waiting for me to fill with my daily duties, contact information and my kids scribbles and play date phone numbers. The cold air that January holds against us makes us complain and long for warmer days( I love Winter so I guess I am out on this one - I love my scarves!). The thought of a whole new 12 months surge threw me, pushing through my veins, filling me with their packaging and bows. I unwrap the plastic with excitement...what will my memories be, what will become of me? I dream, hope and wish.........change is here!

Well, I guess we are moving on....change......it is complicated and ugly when not expected and then it could be the light at the end of the tunnel. Everyday is change. No matter if we want it, it appears, day after day. I am watching the summer come to an end, the beginning of fall approaching, the kids are back into their school routines and I am busy more then ever with my "art". Change is a constant thing for me. I am pretty flexible thanks to my blackberry, e-mail and agenda. My son on the other hand is not. My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is the most awesome, inspiring and cool kid you could ever meet. He has an amazing memory and can totally kick butt on PS2 Star Wars Battlefront ( my favorite game). Change is not Kyle's friend....no matter how many schedules, no matter how many social stories I write, no matter how many visual cues I give, .......it is really hard when things are not always the same....even Moms can be powerless against this force. My light saber is not up to par. I will not turn to the dark side! I wish I could make a perfect universe with no change for Kyle though like I told him - without change, we would be bored! Without change, without obstacles, without the challenges of life, we wilt and wither away....we need to be challenged...it gives us drive and hope, it gives us learning experiences (good and bad), it feeds us! Like I told my son, watch the seasons change, watch how we adapt to the change in weather, how the leaves change colour.....I hope by reminding him of natural change he will one day be able to get a better understanding of why things are in constant change,we can not live according to an agenda......life happens, change happens..........though in real fact.... in Kyle's world, I need to play a Jedi!

Here is my Amber .....
Amber and I went on a "photo rampage" on Saturday - lots of fun - she is learning how to use a camera and she is doing very well. I just bought a new Canon SLR - so you can guess who is bugging me for my other digital camera......she took 116 photos in just under a hour! She is lots of fun and I hope to post a video soon of one of our photo days!
